VLADIMIR ENTIN

Biography

Graduate of two higher educational establishments. Candidate of Science (Law). For more than
10 years worked as researcher in the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of
Sciences. In 1992-1994 worked as representative of the Russian Agency for Intellectual Property
in France, Great Britain and Benelux countries. Later worked as the First Secretary of the
Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO (Paris). Lectured in Sorbonne.
Joined K&P in 1998. In 1999 he became the Director of Centre for Intellectual Property Legal
Protection Non-Commercial Fund instituted by “Klishin & Partners”, National Association of
TV and Radio Broadcasters (NAT), State Tretyakov Art Gallery and Komsomolskaya Pravda
newspaper.
Actively engaged in lawmaking. One of the authors (jointly with Y. M. Baturin and M. A.
Fedotov) of draft laws “On Press and Other Mass Media”, “On Mass Media”, “On Archives and
Archiving” and the RF Law “On Press and Other Mass Media”. Participated in the drafting of
the RF Law “On Copyright and Neighboring Rights”. Laureate of the 1991 USSR Journalists
Union Prize for personal contribution to the formation of laws governing the freedom of press.
Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the RF Supreme Arbitration Court (Civil Law
Section and International Private Law Section). Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of
“Russia in Global Politics’ magazine. Expert on media programs of the Soros Foundation.
Member of Scientific and Technical Board of the Russian Agency for Patents and Trademarks
(Rospatent) (Copyright and Neighboring Rights). Expert of UNESCO on media legislation and
copyright.
Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law (ACADEMIE INTERNATIONALE
DE DROIT COMPARE) located in Paris, France.
Lecturer on intellectual property in European law and Docent of the Advocacy Chair of the
Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the RF Ministry for Foreign Affairs
(MGIMO University). For several years Mr. Entin has been lecturing for the candidates for
master’s degree in the European Law Institute of MGIMO University. 
Author of more than 120 scientific publications on legal situation of mass media, copyright and
neighboring rights published in Russian, English and French, including chapters in textbooks, as
well as theoretical and practical comments.
Vladimir Entin took part in the legal support of forestry concessions of joint ventures with
British capital in Tomsk Region, as well as in the TU204 project with Rolls Royce engine
implemented by Flemings Investment.
Member of the Science and Engineering Board of Russian Federal Agency for Intellectual
Property, Patents and Trademarks (Rospatent), Member of the Board of Experts of the Property
Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
